Hotspots Itinerary
Day 1: Rolous Group (L,
D)
We begin this Cambodia trip with lunch and then onto the Rolous
Group temples, consisting of Bakong, Preah Ko, and Lolei, as well as
the Indratataka baray. In the late afternoon we return to the hotel
before heading out for dinner and to enjoy a traditional Apsara
dance show.

Day 2: Angkor (B, L)
Today begins with a guided exploration of the magnificent jungle
ruins of Angkor, taking in the masterpiece of Angkor Wat to view its
architecture and bas reliefs. After lunch we discover Angkor Thom,
Bayon, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. We
watch the sun set over Angkor Wat from Phnom Bakheng.

Day 3: Beang Mealea and the Floating Village (B, L)
We start today with the mysterious 12th century jungle temple of
Beng Mealea, best described as an “Indiana Jones” experience,
swallowed up by the trees, vines, and moss of the jungle. After
lunch we take half a day to discover Kampong Khleang, the largest
floating village near Siem Reap. During the dry season you can walk
between the stilts on which the houses are built. In wet season,
when the lake is at peak level, the water rises within one or two
meters of the building floors. A local family will take you by boat
on a tour and discover the splendour of these houses. You will be
back in time for lunch at Siem Reap around 12.30pm and enjoy the
rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 4: Sambor Prei Kuk (B, L)
Today we drive to Kampong Thom and head northwards to Sambor Prei
Kuk. A local guide will join us and explain all about the history of
the three main temple sites, Prasat Sambor, Prasat Tao and Prasat
Yeai Poeun. You can choose to either walk the sites or use a locally
rented bicycle to cycle the beautiful jungle paths that link the
three main sites. We end the trip at the Isanborei Crafts hut where
several locally produced handicrafts are displayed. We head back
towards Kampong Thom and continue our journey to Phnom Penh.

Day 5: The Sights of Phnom Penh (B, L)
We begin the day with a visit to the Royal Palace and the Silver
Pagoda. Then on to the infamous Tuol Sleng museum (S-21). After
lunch we visit Choeung Ek (Killing Fields) which is located about
17km southwest of Phnom Penh, and is the best known of the various
Killing Field sites in Cambodia.
Our last stop of the day is the Russian market (Psar Tuol Tum Pung),
where you can find all manner of treasures.

Day 6: Sihnaoukville and Kampong Speu (B, L)
We head south to Sihanoukville; where along the way we make a stop
in Kampong Speu at an old Pagoda where we can stretch our legs and
for those who want feed bananas to the monkeys that live in the
woods around the pagoda. The rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 7: Ream National Park (B, L)
We depart for the Ream National park and take a short trek and boat
tour through the Mangrove forest. The park includes beaches,
mangrove swamps, tropical forests, and many different animal and
bird species including monkeys, eagles, and porpoises. During
December to February, you may also see the freshwater white dolphin.
We enjoy a picnic lunch along the way and in the late afternoon we
head back to Sihanoukville.

Day 8: Kampot (B, L)
We start with a visit to the multi-tiered 14 metre high Kbal Chhay
waterfall located 16 km north of Sihanoukville. Before heading to
the river side town Kampot and strolling around this relaxing
colonial town admiring what is left of the French colonial
architecture, with the beautiful backdrop of the Bokor mountain
range. After lunch we are taken by boat up the Kampong Bai River
towards Tuek Chhou and the Dangrei Mountains. We finish the day by
learning some techniques from the local fishermen before catch the
sunset on the way back to Kampot.

Day 9: Takeo and Tonle Bati (B, L)
Today we will head for Takeo where we will take a private boat
through the canals to the hill and artificial caves at Phnom Da.
After lunch we depart for Tonle Bati and visit the 12th century
temple of Ta Prohm, before heading back to Phnom Penh.

Day 10: Phnom Penh
The day you are free at leisure until we transfer you to the airport
for your flight.
